What this app does. Jira keeps no record of what a comment said before it was edited. This app stores every version of every comment from the moment it is installed, and shows them on the issue with the changed words highlighted.
There is nothing to configure. Recording begins immediately and applies to every project on the site.
The panel is not visible to everyone who can open an issue. It is restricted to users who hold the Edit All Comments permission in the relevant project — typically project administrators and project leads.
Anyone without that permission sees a short message explaining that the history exists but is not available to them. This is deliberate: an audit trail that everyone can read is a second copy of information someone may have had a legitimate reason to correct.
Each comment that has ever been edited or deleted appears as its own block.

Times are shown in each viewer's own regional format, taken from their browser. Seconds are always shown, because in an audit trail two changes made in the same minute still need to be put in order.
It records from installation onward. Versions that existed before you installed the app were never stored by Jira and cannot be recovered by anyone. This is a limitation of Jira, not of this app.
Changes can take a few minutes to appear. Atlassian delivers comment events to apps asynchronously. The record is complete, but it is not instantaneous.
Formatting is not preserved. The app stores plain text. Bold, links, mentions, images and attachments are not retained. The words are.
At most 25 versions per comment are kept. Always the original version plus the most recent edits. When intermediate versions are dropped, the panel says so and reports how many are missing. It never discards data silently.
Very long comments are compared as a whole. Above roughly 800 words, the app shows the entire previous text in red followed by the entire new text in green, instead of word-by-word differences, to keep the panel responsive.
The app is free for sites with up to 10 users, as required by Atlassian. Above that it is a paid app, billed by Atlassian on your existing Atlassian invoice. Pricing is shown on the Marketplace listing.
Recording never stops. If a licence lapses, the app keeps recording edits; it simply stops displaying them. When the licence is reactivated, everything that happened in the meantime is there.

Atlassian does not offer a narrower scope for these events.storage:app — to store the records in the app's own Forge storage.The app requests no write or delete permission of any kind. It is technically incapable of modifying or removing anything in Jira, and it exposes no function to alter or delete a stored record — not for an administrator, and not for us.
The app is built on Atlassian Forge and qualifies for the Runs on Atlassian programme. Records are stored in Atlassian's own hosted storage, inside Atlassian's infrastructure and subject to Atlassian's security controls and data residency arrangements.
We operate no servers and no database. The data is never transmitted to Loggard, and there is no analytics provider, logging service or third-party API involved. Full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
Uninstalling the app from your site stops the recording. Atlassian then deletes the app's stored data in accordance with its own retention policy, currently 28 days after uninstallation.
Deleting a Jira comment does not erase its stored history — that is the entire purpose of an audit trail. To remove the records, uninstall the app.
